The Supermarine 'Type 300' was the prototype of what was to become the now famous Spitfire. It first flew from Eastliegh Areodrome, latterly to become Southampton Airport, in Hampshire England on 5th March 1936.
That was NINETY years ago yesterday.
This is a tribute to that very machine, the first airborne version of that type, flown by Captain Joseph 'Mutt' Summers who was the chief Supermarine Test Pilot.
